Cedar Key Chart |

||
This picture is an original design of a Cedar Key marine chart. I made my first marine chart painting in 1999 of Long Island Sound when I was visiting some of my family who live on the sound. I was born on an island and have used these marine charts all my life and find them to be most visually interesting. The challenge was to create an entirely unique design for these marine charts while keeping the main lines identifiable. It is actually a very abstract picture, but so are marine charts. I was trained as a Landscape Architect at North Carolina State University, School of Design, and I have been working with reading and creating plan view maps and drawings for over 30 years. This was one time I could really let go since no one in their right mind would think of actually using this chart to pilot a boat. On second thought: Do not use this chart for navigational purposes. Of course it is silly to make such a statement, but it was fun to put it in this description. This numbered limited edition giclee print is $ 25. Free Shipping and is signed by the artist (me, Mike Segal) and is printed with permanent inks on 8.5 in. x 11 in. acid free paper. It comes hand-mounted in our studio by Marvi, in an 11 in. x 14 in. acid free white Bainbridge® mat on an 11 in. x 14 in. foam core backing board. The window opening on the mat is 7.5 in. x 9.5 in.
