Joshua and the Battle of Jericho Print

The painting depicts the Bible story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho. The Hebrew word written in the picture is “Joshua”. I started painting bible scenes in 1984 when Marvi and I lived in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, a little valley six miles south of Boone, NC. My neighbors had a Wednesday night prayer group and they asked me if I would make them some sketches of each weeks bible section.

I found the work so enjoyable that I began to use my weekly sketches to make paintings. I do not place any allegorical interpretations in these paintings, I sincerely attempt to tell the story as it is written and leave the interpretation to the viewer.
